One account, one default subreddit, and the first line of your post is the title.
#Overview
A Reddit connection is one account plus one default subreddit. A Reddit post goes to a
subreddit, not to a feed, so the connection needs to know which one. Connect the account
through Reddit's consent screen in the dashboard, then give the connection a subreddit.
Until it has one, posts to it come back 400 invalid_request.
Posting to Reddit is free. The account counts toward your connection ladder like any other.
#The first line is the title
Reddit requires a title on every post, capped at 300 characters. yeetpost does not add a separate title field for one platform, so the first line of your text becomes the title and everything under it becomes the body.
- The first line of the text is the title.
- A one-line post is a title with no body, which is what most Reddit posts are.
- A first line over 300 characters is refused (
invalid_request) rather than truncated. - A post that is nothing but a URL goes up as a link post, with the URL as its title. Anything else is a text post.
curl -X POST https://api.yeetpost.com/api/v2/post/reddit \
-H "x-api-key: $YEETPOST_API_KEY" \
-d 'we rewrote the scheduler and cut p99 by 80%
Polling every second was the first mistake. So was running one worker.'That posts with the title "we rewrote the scheduler and cut p99 by 80%" and the rest as the body.
#What Reddit does not take yet
| Feature | Answer |
|---|---|
| Images | media_unsupported. Not built yet. |
| Threads | shape_unsupported. A Reddit thread is comments under a post, a different object. |
| First comment | shape_unsupported, for the same reason. |
| Per-post subreddit | Not yet. Every post on a connection goes to that connection's default subreddit. Connect the same account a second time in another profile for a second subreddit. |
A refusal from Reddit itself (a subreddit rule, a per-subreddit rate limit) comes back as
422 platform_rejected. DELETE /posts/{id} takes a post down like on every other
platform.
#Why it says "coming soon"
Reddit needs a Reddit developer app behind the deployment. The posting code above is built and works today against a connected account; it is not offered to customers yet because that developer app is waiting on Reddit's own approval. Once it lands, Reddit shows up in the dashboard's connection picker with no other change to this page.
