Their column is what their own public pages said on 17 September 2026: hootsuite.com/plans, developer.hootsuite.com/docs/api-overview, hootsuite.com/integrations/mcp and their integrations page. Where we could not find an answer, the row says “Not published” rather than guessing.

Platforms6: LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Discord, Telegram, Mastodon.11 in the dashboard: Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, WhatsApp, Bluesky, Reddit. Fewer via API: TikTok, YouTube and Bluesky are not supported by the Publishing API.
Sandbox and test keysYes. A sandbox connection that validates and never publishes, and yp_test_ keys that cannot reach a live account. Not published.
Per-item resultsOne response carries a result per connection, so a partial failure is visible in the call that caused it.Not published. Posts are scheduled through Hootsuite's queue.
Delivery logA public webhook delivery log endpoint: every attempt, its status code and its response. Not published.
IdempotencyIdempotency-Key. The same key replays the stored response verbatim, a different body on the same key is a 409, and errors are stored too.Not published.
MCP tools5, all always visible.4 MCP servers (Perch for publishing, Nest for inbox, Lumen for insights, Parliament for advocacy), each product-specific. Per-server tool count not published.
MCP authAn API key, or a login. Add the endpoint as a custom connector in claude.ai with no key and it runs OAuth 2.1 against us: you sign in, pick your whole account or one profile, pick live or test. A grant is scoped and paced like a key, and is revoked from the console.OAuth-based via in-app connector settings. Works with ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini. Permission controls scope what the AI can access.
AnalyticsPer-post metrics read back on a schedule and kept: GET /posts/{postId}/metrics, GET /analytics for a window, and a post.metrics webhook. Bluesky, Mastodon and LinkedIn are free; X reads are metered and off by default. A number a platform does not report is null, never 0.Analytics API available. Detailed performance metrics across platforms supported by the dashboard. Included in the plan price.
Team membersSeveral people on one account, invited by email, as owner, admin or member. One bill, on the owner.Standard: 1+ users at $99 each. Professional and Advanced: unlimited seats at $199 and $399 per user. Roles and approval workflows on higher tiers.
CLITen commands in the Node package, JSON on stdout by default, but that CLI ships in [email protected] and is not on npm yet. The published 1.x package posts with a single yeetpost <connection> <text> call. Use the MCP server or the REST API today. Not published.
SDKs3: Node, Python and Go, hand written, zero dependencies, all at parity with the v2 API. None of them is on npm, PyPI or a module proxy yet, so today you call the API directly.None. Only an iFrame SDK for apps that run inside the Hootsuite dashboard. Developers call the REST API directly.
Multi-tenancyProfiles, hosted connect URLs and scoped keys: shipped. One profile per end customer, with profileId on connections, posts and webhooks; a hosted connect page, headless mode included, that your customer connects through without seeing our dashboard; and API keys scoped to one profile, with a redirect allowlist. The short version: Hootsuite is a dashboard-first enterprise product with more platforms, approval workflows and team management. yeetpost is an API-first tool with a sandbox, per-connection results, idempotency, a delivery log, multi-tenancy and per-account pricing that starts free. They serve fundamentally different use cases.

#Who should pick which

Pick Hootsuite if you need a full social media management suite with approval workflows, compliance features, SSO and enterprise support, if you need the dashboard platforms that are not in the API, or if your team already uses Hootsuite and you want to extend it with custom integrations.

Pick yeetpost if you are building an integration or wiring an agent and want an API-first product: a sandbox, per-connection results, idempotency, multi-tenancy with hosted connect URLs, and pricing that starts free and scales per account rather than per seat. Start on the agents page or read the docs.

#FAQ

Does Hootsuite have a developer API?

Yes. Hootsuite has a REST API with five categories: Publishing, Inbox 2.0, Analytics, Amplify and User Management. It requires an approved developer account and a paid Hootsuite plan. Rate limits are 20 requests per second and 100,000 calls per day.

Can I use Hootsuite as a posting API for my product?

Not easily. Hootsuite's API terms require each user to have their own Hootsuite plan and bar apps that replicate Hootsuite's products. There is no multi-tenancy, no scoped keys and no hosted connect URLs. yeetpost is built for this use case.

How does Hootsuite pricing compare to yeetpost for developers?

Hootsuite starts at $99 per user per month. yeetpost starts free for two connected accounts, then $5, $2.50 and $1 per account at scale. Hootsuite has no separate X fee; yeetpost charges 2 cents per X post. They are different shapes: Hootsuite is a per-seat SaaS, yeetpost is a per-account API.

Does Hootsuite support MCP for AI agents?

Yes. Hootsuite launched four MCP servers in June 2026: Perch for publishing, Nest for inbox, Lumen for insights and Parliament for advocacy. They authenticate via OAuth and work with ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini.
